Office Teamwork Leadership Award

UNIVERSITY REGISTRAR'S
OUR POLICY MEMO NO. 25

Effective Date:
April 27, 2004

The University Registrar will give a $50 award to the Senior Advisory Team members and any qualifying staff members that demonstrate leadership and team building by planning and carrying out an activity that involves staff from different office sections. The list of qualifying across-office sections is attached.

OBJECTIVE

The purpose of the award is to encourage the members across office sections to work together, to coordinate more activities emphasizing teamwork between office sections, and create more opportunities for personal interaction and better communication among staff that would not normally occur.

CONDITIONS FOR THE AWARD

The activity must have a project planning team made up of at least two staff members from different sections working together to plan the activity. Any staff members can qualify for the award if they participate on the planning team.

This can be a work-related event, such as helping with an office task that is normally done by one section, completing some special office project as a group effort, or it can be a social activity, such as planning an office event that brings people together. Some examples are helping each other with a distribution or a mailing that is normally done by one section, working together on special projects such as shifting files or checking inventory, planning something similar to the Chili Cook-off, or teaching some skill or knowledge.

PROCEDURES

To qualify for the award, the project planning team completes the Award Application form. Section supervisors for the sections involved must review the project. The form is then submitted to the University Registrar.

The University Registrar will review the form and meet with the planning team. If the activity is approved for implementation by the University Registrar, is successfully performed, and meets the objective for the award, then $50 will be awarded to each of the project planning team members. If the event becomes a repeating event, the award will be given a maximum of twice a year, awarded after the first two times the group plans and executes the event.
