Drugs and Firearms in the Workplace

OUR POLICY MEMO NO. 18 | Effective Date: September 1, 2000 |
This office follows the policies of the University, which prohibit the possession of firearms and illegal drugs in the workplace. The policies are cited below:
DRUGS IN THE WORKPLACE
From the Staff Handbook:
"The University maintains a drug-free workplace. Individuals who suspect they may have a drug or alcohol problem are encouraged to seek help through the Employee Assistance Program before the problem affects their work performance or conduct. Anyone reporting to work under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs or using alcohol or illegal drugs on the job may be dismissed without warning. In addition to disciplinary action by the University, violation of the University's drug-free policy may be cause for criminal prosecution by government or law enforcement agencies."
ILLEGAL DRUGS
The University policy on possession of illegal drugs is found in the appendix to the Undergraduate Bulletin, and on the web.
FIREARMS
The University Policy on the prohibition of firearms on campus is found in the same appendix in the Undergraduate Bulletin under "Firearms".
