Eating at Your Desk

UNIVERSITY REGISTRAR'S
OUR POLICY MEMO NO. 07

Effective Date:
September 1, 2000

While the lunch period must be spent away from your desk, eating and drinking at your desk at other times is permitted. However, the activity should be conducted with much discretion, especially with the choice of food and one's visibility/proximity to our public and co-workers.

CONTAINERS

Drinks should be in containers that are stable and not easily tipped.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

Drinking and eating should not occur near important documents (i.e. food or drink next to a stack of diplomas) or office equipment, especially computers. Immediate clean-up and proper disposal of food-stuff is expected. Enforcement of this policy will be responsibility of the supervisors.
