A welcome reception is held for new employees. It is scheduled for the staff member's first day at work, from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. The supervisor sends the invitation to the office announcing the arrival of the new employee and the day for the reception. All employees are asked to bring refreshments for the reception.
A farewell party is held for employees leaving employment who have worked with the office for at least one year. It is scheduled at an appropriate time that is convenient for the honoree and the office. The supervisor sends an invitation to the office. All employees are asked to bring refreshments for the reception. Farewell parties for employees with less than a year of service in the Office of the University Registrar or parties for temporary employees or student workers are held at the discretion of the supervisor.
At the discretion of the honoree, the University Registrar will provide funding for a retirement party up to $1,500 for staff members who are retiring from state service.
FOOD AND SUPPLIES
The Business Manager requests donations of $4 a year (or $1 four times a year) from office staff to purchase the party supplies for the birthdays, new employee receptions, and farewell parties (napkins, cups, knives, forks, spoons) as needed. These supplies should be used only for these events.
To save on the cost of the supplies, office staff is asked to supply their own plates for the parties. A few paper plates will be kept in stock for visitors.
The food and beverages are provided voluntarily by the office staff as appropriate for each occasion.
OTHER EVENTS
Other special events can be scheduled and conducted as deemed appropriate by any staff member and will be voluntary. Sponsors must seek approval from the Registrar or the Associate Registrar in advance of planning such an event. The sponsors should arrange for the food and supplies for these events.
