UNC Scheduling Software / Ad Astra Implementation Project
Introduction
Under the guidance of the Office of the Provost, the Office of the University Registrar (OUR) and Information Technology Services (ITS) have been given the charge to purchase and implement a University wide Scheduling Software system.
In an effort to continually improve their services, the University has selected a Scheduling Software package (Ad Astra) that will allow them to quickly and efficiently schedule rooms, events, and key resources while maximizing the use of their current facilities with planned growth, including the classroom renovation bond project.
By implementing Ad Astra, the University will be able to capture and transfer all scheduling information into a fully scalable automated system. The University will also benefit from centralizing academic and event scheduling into one database, including web access that will allow better management of classroom resources.
Project Scope
The scope of effort includes:
- Information Gathering: Identifying and documenting the data requirements, based on best practice recommendations.
- Installation & System Configuration: Coordinating and managing the purchase and installation of required hardware (to be maintained by the UNC server farm).
- Interface Development: Setup of a custom interface that will enable batch updates between Ad Astra and legacy IDMS Student Information System.
- Creating the required data elements: This will include building a Room File, developing & implementing Section Record imports, Development of Academic Preferences Library, and Event Configuration.
